MVT Spotlight: Jannah Jacildo, November MVT

Meet Jannah “Jang” Jacildo, our Most Valuable Tutor for the month of November. A travel junkie by heart, Envizion’s very own morena beauty seems shy at first glance but has a smile that can make anyone feel at ease. When not traveling, she enjoys offering More Than Tsada lessons to her Japanese students. Let’s sit down with Jang as she answers serious and not-so-serious questions about work, life, and love.

Jannah as a CBT

Q: How did you come to work at Envizion?

One of the trainers here, Maita, was my classmate in college. She invited me to try and apply in Envizion.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working at Envizion?

What I enjoy the most is that I get to talk with different students, learn from different people and understand more the Japanese culture.

Q: What is the most rewarding thing about your job; what makes it all worthwhile?

Every time I see my students improving and becoming more confident in speaking English, I can say, “This is why I do what I do.”

Q: How do you provide More Than Tsada lessons to your students?

“My students shouldn’t just feel like this is something that they have to do, but also that this would be something that they would want to do,” is what I say to myself every day before starting my lessons. So I make sure that they not only learn from my lesson but also enjoy learning.

Q: What are your focus points during your lessons?

I focus on 3 things during my lessons. First, that my students should feel at ease and comfortable with me. Second, that they learn from my lesson and retain what they have learned. And lastly, that they would want to learn more (and not necessarily from me again).

Q: What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?

I would be an interior designer.

Q: How do you keep a healthy work/life balance?

At work, I make sure that I do my job well while enjoying doing it . But after work, as much as possible, I do the things I love to do like watching movies, traveling, etc.

Q: What advice do you have for someone just starting out in the company?

Wear your best smile.

Every time I see my students improving and becoming more confident in speaking English, I can say, “This is why I do what I do.

Q: What is your personal motto?

That there’s not one motto that applies to everything so it’s best to not to expect anything and be prepared for everything.

Jannah on life

Q: What’s your ideal date?

Going on a food trip, taking long walks to burn off some calories from the food we ate and then drinking coffee/tea afterwards. All that while talking about anything under the sun.

Q: Would you rather date someone you love or date someone who loves you? Why?

I would rather date someone who loves me because, who knows, I might eventually fall in love with him, too.

Q: Would you rather be the funniest person in the room or the most intelligent? Why?

I’d rather be the funniest person because then I’d have to be intelligent, too, to be able to make people laugh. And I’m okay with being intelligent. I don’t need to be the most.

Q: If you were to compare the softness of your lips to something, what would it be?

Like fluffy pancakes.

Q: When taking a bath, which body part do you wash first? Why?

My feet. To test the coldness of the water first.

Q: If you were a zombie, whose brains would you eat?

My neighbor’s, because he is so fit and healthy. So, if I become a zombie, I’d want to be a healthy zombie.

Q: If you had 1 superpower, what would it be? Why?

Teleportation. I love traveling, so it would be so easy for me to go to places…. Plus, there’s no need for me to buy plane tickets. So, I can save money.

Q: If you were sent to Mars for a month, who would you take with you and what would you do there?

My best friend. We would just bring some books, a bunch of movies and listen to good music and we could laze around on Mars for a month.
